This talented young man will blow you away with his amazing photographs. Ephemeral landscapes crafted from the most mundane of common household items spring vividly to life, to be captured in masterfully staged images, and then are swept away to make room for the next mind-blowing project. Paprika-- and lots of it, sugar, cotton, steel wool and even the luminous goop inside glow sticks are the raw ingredients for his forced perspective images, many of which are jaw-dropping in their realism.
Look at this erupting volcano--
Look at that lava! I can almost feel the heat coming off of it!
The lava is actually luminous glow stick goop, the billowing smoke is cotton and a few 60 watt light bulbs create the effect-- genius!
This is just a mere taste of Matthew's talent. You've got to take a long look at the rest of his photos to be properly impressed. Then look at his behind the scenes gallery and you'll be completely astounded.
You can find both galleries here.
He also has a slide-show of his work along with more audio describing his process. Check that out here.
I think this guy is brilliant, and as a modeler and photographer myself I find his work inspiring. My creative juices are flowing, now I just need to get my hands on twelve pounds of paprika!
