Project Icarus is an ambitious five-year study into launching an unmanned spacecraft to an interstellar destination. Headed by the Tau Zero Foundation and British Interplanetary Society, a non-profit group of scientists dedicated to interstellar spaceflight, Icarus is working to develop a spacecraft that can travel to a nearby star.

It's easy to go just a little nuts when you're studying exoplanets. Spend enough time investigating the exotic chemistry, composition and environments of newly discovered worlds orbiting distant stars and you can start to believe anything's possible. Little, however, can match the fairy-tale possibilities of WASP-12b.

Today is the anniversary of the 1938 Orson Wells broadcast of "War of The Worlds" that caused a bit of a panic when a few people thought it was an actual newscast and that Martians had really landed in Grovers Mill, New Jersey.
This is what I listened to last year while I was building the Little Sprout's robot suit.

In fact, I listened to the original as well as a couple of new performances, including one done by a group of Star Trek actors, including Leonard Nimoy.

A newfound Earth-sized planet discovered in the habitable zone of a nearby star looks very promising for the possibility of extraterrestrial life, but many unknowns remain.
